Today, Joe Ley Antiques Inc. is known as one of the largest single-owner (i.e. not a mall) establishments in the United States. Our founder, Joe Ley, grew up as an orphan and was passed around, unwanted from family to family. Never officially adopted, he aged out of the orphanage at 18. His survival instincts sparked his humble beginnings as he would scour the neighborhood for discarded items that could possibly be of some worth or recycled in some way. In the mid-1980s he began supplying theme restaurants such as Darryl's, TGI Friday's, Houlihan's and Max & Erma's just to name a few. This established him in the industry as a go-to guy for the unusual and obscure.
Fifty-one years later, his two-acre, three-story historic school house overflows with funky finds, exquisite treasures an all sorts of curiosities in between. We love providing a one of a kind shopping experience in the heart of the Nulu Art District!
